Review

My honest GoHighLevel review

I run client work on this platform every week and I earn a commission if you sign up through my links. Both of those things are true, so here is the version that includes the parts I do not like.

The short verdict

GoHighLevel is the best value in small business marketing software, and it is not the best product in any single category it competes in. Those two statements sit together comfortably. You are buying consolidation and flat pricing, not best-in-class email or best-in-class page building.

Rated the way I would rate it for a service business: value 9/10, breadth 9/10, ease of setup 5/10, polish 6/10, support 6/10, reselling potential 10/10.

What it genuinely does well

  • Speed to lead. A form fill can trigger a text and an email inside sixty seconds. This is the single feature that makes clients money.
  • One inbox. SMS, email, Facebook, Instagram, and Google Business messages land in the same conversation thread.
  • Snapshots. Build a client setup once, clone it in minutes forever. Nothing else on this list has a real equivalent.
  • Flat pricing. Unlimited contacts and unlimited users. Your bill does not punish growth.
  • Reviews and reputation. Automated review requests after a job closes, which most small businesses never get around to doing manually.

What frustrates me

  • The interface changes often. Something you documented last quarter may have moved.
  • The page builder is fine, not fast. ClickFunnels and Webflow both beat it on speed.
  • Reporting is shallower than HubSpot. If your client wants deep attribution, you will be exporting data.
  • Support quality varies. This is exactly why I use Extendly for 24/7 white-label support on client accounts.
  • The learning curve is real. Most people who cancel never connected a domain or a phone number, which means they never actually used the platform.

What it actually costs

$97/mo for the entry plan, $297/mo for unlimited sub-accounts and the branded app, and $497/mo for SaaS mode if you want to resell it. On top of that, usage credits for phone, text, email, and AI. A small account runs ten to thirty dollars a month in usage.

The full pricing breakdown covers the tiers, and the profit calculator tells you whether it pays for itself at your client count.

Who should not buy it

  • Anyone who only sends a monthly newsletter. Stay on your email tool.
  • Ecommerce stores that need deep product and inventory features. Use Shopify plus Klaviyo.
  • Enterprise sales teams that need forecasting and attribution a CFO will sign off on.
  • Anyone who cannot spend ten hours in the first month learning it. It will sit unused and you will blame the software.

Who should buy it

  • Local service businesses losing leads to slow follow-up.
  • Agencies running the same setup for multiple clients.
  • Coaches and consultants stacking a funnel tool, an email tool, and a scheduler.
  • Anyone who wants to sell software under their own brand without building software.

Common questions

Is GoHighLevel worth it in 2026?
If you currently pay for two or more tools to handle CRM, email, texting, booking, or funnels, yes. The $97 plan usually replaces $300 to $600 of software. If you only send a newsletter, it is not worth the setup time.
What is the biggest downside of GoHighLevel?
Surface area. It does a lot, so nothing is more than good enough at the start, and the first two weeks feel overwhelming. A snapshot or a checklist removes most of that pain.
Is GoHighLevel good for beginners?
It is good for beginners who will commit ten focused hours to setup. It is bad for beginners who want something working in an afternoon with no configuration.
Does GoHighLevel have hidden costs?
Not hidden, but separate. Phone numbers, calls, texts, email sending, and AI features run on prepaid usage credits on top of the subscription. Budget ten to fifty dollars a month for a small account.
Can you make money reselling GoHighLevel?
Yes, on the $497 SaaS plan, and it is the most durable part of the business model. It is also the hardest, because you are now a software company with support obligations, not just an agency.
